The Real MF Guys Show Episode #8 with Chris, Eli & Nathan, owners of Atlas Multi Group, focusing on the power of mindset, limitations and growth. The Real MF Guys Show
A good morning routine can make or break your day. Starting off the day with a set routine can not only ground you and prevent you from wandering aimlessly through a day, but put you in a mindset that helps you plan for the day and conquer it.
There is no size fits all morning routine. For Eli his morning always consists of 3-4 things, one of which being exercise. Exercise has the ability to reduce levels of stress hormones while also stimulating the production of endorphins that are the body’s natural painkillers and mood elevators.
Starting off your day correctly also allows you to live with purpose.
If you don’t start the day with intense purpose, and attack the day, you are going to be missing out. You don’t have to do it every single day, but if you want to live a full life, you have to plan for a full life.
Simple small steps in the morning can change your paradigm for the entire day. As Chris says “when you start changing one little thing it adds up and then it stair steps from there”. Take control of your morning.
After establishing a morning routine, you then need to “grow your mindset and push beyond what you think you can do”. You don’t need to focus on negative or positive, but a range of things that forces you to grow
If the range of things that you normally do is a really small span, and you always live within that span, is that really living? You have to get outside of your range and do things that push you to live. When you do that, it forces you to grow outside your bubble. Living in the small range is easier, but is it rewarding or fulfilling?
If your stress includes only day to day tasks such as driving in traffic, you're going to live a small life. On the other hand if you're doing ultra marathons or buying real estate and growing past your comfort zone, your life is going to be bigger. As Nathan put it you have to “level up your life”.
Everyday can easily be mundane, how are you going to live without regret?
When you live with this mindset it can be liberating, it can allow you to get into a mindset of living everyday to the fullest. You can choose to say, “I am going to be the best person that I can be, live by my core values and follow my passions”.
If you are able to take control of your day and conquer it, then it helps you live in the moment. You're not regretting your past or fearful of the future. Take action, it’s ok to make mistakes or fail. You are going to die one day, so what are you doing today to make sure you live?
It’s ok to be transparent, be your real self and be vulnerable. Know your weaknesses and take actions to improve them. You have to surround yourself with people who encourage you and help you grow. You shouldn’t have to put up a facade around your friends.
If you have a core group of people that hold you accountable, and keep you motivated to improve a little everyday, you all grow together. Friends who force you to get out of your comfort zone, that you feel comfortable enough to be vulnerable to learn and grow with.
You may look at someone widely successful and think they did it all on their own, when realistically it takes a village. We are lucky enough to not only be business partners but also friends. We all may have moments where we are the ones front and center but not one of us can succeed without the other. “Success is not Final and Failure is not Fatal”. You never actually reach success and failure doesn’t kill you so keep moving forward.
